Henninger Media Services has been awarded one of seven Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contracts from the National Park Service

Henninger Media Services (HMS) of Arlington, VA and Washington, D.C. has been awarded one of seven Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contracts from the National Park Service for complete audiovisual productions and services. The contract is a one-year contract with four one-year option periods.

The National Park Service award focuses on servicing the audiovisual production needs of the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, by providing products and services necessary to produce and deliver high-quality audiovisual programs. HMS will provide production and post-production services—which include scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, audio mixing, graphics, color correction and duplication services.

HMS is proud of the long-standing relationship they have with the National Park Service. They have a unique understanding of what the National Park Service requires and how programs need to be delivered, based on past experience on several projects. Most recently, HMS provided full production and post-production services for the interpretive film and six audio visual exhibits for Mount Rainier National Park; as well as post-production services for the Centennial Initiative Digital Highlights, an electronic digital report to the President of the United States.

Upon the announcement of the award, HMS’s Chief Operating Officer, Eric Hansen, stated, “this was such wonderful news for our company.  We’ve had the fortunate opportunity to work with the National Park Service on many high profile projects since 1992, and we look forward to the creative and technical possibilities that the next five years have in store for all of us!”

Motion-Compensated HD Standards Converter Attracts High-Profile Clients With Exacting Demands for International Standards Conversion

HAMPSHIRE, U.K.— Feb. 17, 2009 — Henninger Media Services, a high-end post- production facility in the Washington, D.C. area, has built its video conversion business around the Snell & Wilcox Alchemist Ph.C – HD motion-compensated standards converter. With the Alchemist Ph.C – HD, Henninger is able to provide high-profile clients such as National Geographic Channel, Smithsonian Networks, and the Discovery Channel with state-of-the-art conversion technology for their international HD content.

Based in Arlington, Va., Henninger Media Services also operates a facility in the heart of Washington, D.C. across from National Geographic’s headquarters. The Alchemist Ph.C – HD is in high demand by Henninger’s customers, who are producing increasingly greater quantities of HD programming that must be transferred to other formats for distribution in international markets. Known as the gold standard in HD conversion technology, the Alchemist Ph.C – HD harnesses the renowned Snell & Wilcox Ph.C motion measurement technology to provide superior-quality output for both HD and SD content.

“Anything slated for international distribution goes through our Alchemist Ph.C – HD, so it runs up to 12 hours a day,” said Sam Crawford, Henninger Media Services’ director of engineering. “With the Alchemist Ph.C – HD, we’re able to meet the needs of high-end, high-profile clients that have exacting standards for conversion quality; in fact, many insist that their international HD conversions be done using Ph.C technology.”

For several years, Henninger Media Services has relied on the company’s SD motion- compensated standards converter, the Alchemist Ph.C. “Snell & Wilcox has always stayed ahead of the curve in terms of new and emerging industry standards for conversion. When motion compensation emerged as the international standard, the ENDS company responded with the Alchemist Ph.C. for SD,” said Crawford. “And now that demand for high-quality HD content is rapidly spreading around the world, Snell has responded by being the first to market with a motion-compensated converter for HD. The Alchemist Ph.C – HD is a perfect example of the exceptional quality of Snell & Wilcox solutions, which I believe surpass anything else on the market.”

About the Alchemist Ph.C – HD The Snell and Wilcox Alchemist Ph.C – HD is the product of extensive research into the exacting demands of HD frame-rate standards conversion, producing converted HD outputs of unparalleled quality and clarity that are virtually indistinguishable from the original input. The high-quality output is a direct result of Snell & Wilcox’s Emmy® award- winning Ph.C motion measurement technology, optimized to prevent the motion-related artifacts that are commonly associated with standards conversion in HD video.
